Hey all, well my S710a is dead - droped in the sink at my house - pulled it out in time to save ALLL BUT THE DIRECTIONAL KEYPAD and the select button in the middle - everything else works. but now its started to mess up.
So i'm going to be selling that phone (maybe, if its worth it, and if i can clean it up still) and upgrading.
My contract has been up on my old phone over a year ago. I am willing to get another contract because my mom pays the bill, and i'm satisfied with cingular.
So thats one way to save some money with a 2 year contract, but also, my mom just gave me $100 worth of gift cards to cingular that she got for being a 'loyal customer' (we've had a account with them that dates back to bag-phone era - i'm guessing at least 11 years)
So i'm looking for a new cellphone, I'd like something with a keypad for typing
but i hate the treo look with the keypad built into the front. This phone needs to fit into my pocket. at least as easily as my Sony S710a
Some key features i want:
- PDA functionality (not loyal to microsoft, i have an ipaq 5300 series and am not too impressed with windows mobile 2003 - forgot about that guy - i can sell him with everything for around $130 or so - nice lil pda)
- Wifi internet access (i know wifi is a pretty new feature on phones, so any ideas on phones comming out very soon, like right after christmas?)
- Bluetooth
- Decent camera (my S710a took so so pictures, i'd like something that can take at least so so if not better, possibly autofocused pictures)
- Expandable memory (unless it has over a gig of internal storage, i need a memory card)
I know there are a lot of phones out there - Ive bee eyeing the Cingular (HTC) 8525 - that is almost the same as the HTC TyTN
But everywhere i've been reading says that the 8525 is almost exactly like the 8125 except for the 3G capabilitys.
I do not intend to spend money anytime soon on data over cingular networks. I am concerned about the cost, and the security issues related to that. Plus i am still a college student, and 90% of everywhere.
So there you have it - i have a few hundred i intend to blow at cingular, After a 2 year contract, $100 in gift cards, and selling my practically new HP Ipaq PDA for over $100 (i bought it 3 months ago for $110, they were selling on ebay for $180 at the time), I'm looking at spending under $300 of my own cash on a phone
Oh, GPS would be great also.
I'm a gadget freak, that loves to use his stuff to the max. The cellphone has recently become my ultimate gadget. With the number of included features - they can now replace several electronics that gadget guys like me would carry. (having a decent cellphone on my last phone really came in handy for college in tons of ways)
thanks all for your help!
