looking for backpacking trail?

wondering if any1 knows a 10 mile or less backing trail around Greenville NC? Can be on the tar river or neuse river. We are willing to go as far as Kinston. We also need it to have a place to set up our tent and such.
 
The Appalachian Trail passes through a section of NC. I did a quick google and found a map of the trail. It looks like there is acess to it about a 100miles from Greenville.
