I'm not looking for "Atomic Age Vampire".
This movie is probably from 1940s or 1950s but I watched it in the 60s. A scientist discovers a serum that heals damaged skin. He goes to a mental institution/hospital and tries to explain the director if he could try the serum on a patient who was burned or has a scar. One of the patients overhears the scientist from outside the window and follows him home. After the patient persuades the doctor to experiment on her, she becomes beautiful. Something happens in which she disappears and takes the remaining serum w/ her.
Before she disappeared, the doctor tries to persuade her to go back to the institution w/ him to show that his serum was a success. She violently refused. I don't remember if she physically harmed the doctor, but I do know that he was in a wheelchair. Since she looks beautiful she leaves town and changes her physical appearance (hair, etc.) and tries to move on in another city. In the meantime, the doctor notices that the serum he had discovered has a flaw.
The flaw is that when the affected area is exposed to extreme wind the effects wear off and the damaged skin becomes visible. The scientist becomes concerned & upset because when the patient realizes the serum was not permanent, she will go on a murdering rampage because her hideousness was revealed. Meanwhile, in her new life, she is enjoying her job as a waitress. She meets a handsome man who she falls in love with and marries.
While driving w/ him in the car, she wore a scarf and the wind was blowing in her face. The wind dried up the serum and her face revealed the hideous deformity she had. When her husband noticed, he stopped the car and got out because he was horrified. She realized what had happened and ran him over w/ the car. She then turned around to go back and find the doctor so she could kill him too.
Upon arriving, she demanded that he make more of the serum or die. He had anticipated her arrival and told her that she had to turn herself in to the authorities. She was about to hurt him w/ a piece of glass when the doctor said that there was a perfected solution in his lab. When he went to get it he destroyed it. The woman was upset and moved to attack him but slipped and impaled herself. The perfected serum dripped from the table onto her face and she became beautiful.
The police came and asked where the hideous woman was, but the professor said all he was was a beautiful woman. Does anyone know the name of this movie or any of the performers? Thanks. : )
