Looking for a webdesign program that supports templates (like PHP Nuke).?

So I've finally decided it's time to stop personally typing all my websites in base HTML in Notepad and move up to something a tad more professional looking, lol.

My husband has used PHP Nuke in the past, but I don't like the base look of that style of layout, I'm looking for a slightly different program that works on the same idea. Any suggestions? (Probably sound like a total idiot but I've never tried anything near web programming.. done lots of personal websites, but all in Notepad)

Just to clear a few things up...

PHP Nuke isn't a design program, its a CMS/portal.

Also, even when using a content management system, the best way to do the frontend design is by hand in notepad. You can't beat that.

And unless you are planning to write your own CMS (always good fun!) then you won't need much/any web programming - that is the whole idea of them... all the hard work is done so its all set up for you to easily manage. You set it up with your design and content, and it sorts out all the hidden backend/database stuff for you.

Is a good website that lets you try out the frontends and backends of clean installs of many CMS's in a sandbox environment so you can get a feel for what each one is like.
