Looking for a sports bike

Hey Guys, Im thinking of buying a sports bike for the odd sunday blast and maybe a track day, I currently own an ST4, its great, but I think I want a dedicated sports bike for the odd blast. Been riding 19 years, it wont be my first sports bike....since the early ninety's.

Just looking for the general consensus on what models to avoid or go for. A new 1098R is'nt on the list either, neither is a new 1198 but a runout 1098S or used one is about the dollar limit. Having put a cap on what I can afford, I'll book end it by saying a 916 is the starting point.

Hi KarlG, I noticed some runout deals, demo's and barely run in second hand bikes. I really like the 1098.
How does it compare with the older models? Some friends have good things to say about the 998, dont know about the 999, TBH the 999 is nasty, I've riden one, it was like a 600. Dont know about that, maybe I rode a dud?
