Hi Ther...

Im kinda lookin for a fone with PDA function. Following are some must haves to what Im lookin for

- Must be marketted in Asia (Im gettin the fone in Taiwan)
- Must have PDA function (thus PDA fone... duh? )
- Must b able to run on 850 Mhz
- Lower than 500 CAD (or about 14000 NTD)
- Must be fairly small sized (smaller than the SE PXXX series)
- Stable

I kinda had my mind set on a Moto A1200 (Ming) However one of the co-workers that know his fones really well tell me that Motos are generally not as good as some of the other brands.

I've not had much experience with brands other than SE and Nokia since that's wut I and most of my friends have been using, so if there's any feedback on a few choices and recommendations.

Any feedbacks will be highly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

The HTC Wizard or the HTC Prophet sounds like just what you are looking for.
I'm quite sure that the Dopod Variants are available in Taiwan.. and maybe QTek too...
The main differences between the two are:
1. The Wizard has a keyboard.. and is hence thicker than the Prophet [which is touch screen only] by ~5mm
2. The Wizard has a 1.3MP camera vs 2.0MP on the Prophet
3. The Wizard has a mini-SD slot vs an SD slot on the Prophet

Below is a list of variants that I found...

HTC Wizard http://www.dopodasia.com/Dopod/Sing...s/PDAPhone/838/
Rectangular form factor: Cingular 8100/8125, Dopod 838
Oval form factor: Qtek 9100, T-mobile MDA/MDA Vario, i-mate K-Jam, O2 XDA Mini Pro/XDA Mini S, Orange SPV M3000, Vodafone VPA II Compact

HTC Prophet http://www.dopodasia.com/Dopod/Sing...APhone/818_Pro/
Qtek S200, Dopod 818 Pro, i-mate JAMin, O2 XDA Neo, Orange SPV M600

Hi Tsuioku

Thanks for the reply. Both 838 and 818pro you have suggested are really nice fones. (in fact they were both in my list until I realized they were 4000 dollars NTD over my max expenditure) Is there anything cheaper that you can recommend?

Thanks

Jason

The only other recent phone I can think of would be the Nokia E61....

If you don't mind older models, I was also considering the BenQ P50

Thanks for the reply again.

I couldnt get a price on the E61, and the BenQ is still 2000 over budget.

Ai... saw a few good ones but they either didnt support 850 or doesnt have writing recognition... the only one that's decent priced is the Eten M500. However Im not too sure how it is... cuz Ive never heard of Eten brand cellfones... lol

Wow... Guess Taiwan isn't as cheap as I thought...
The P50 is currently going for $320USD on mobileplanet.com (an Expansys subsidiary)
Even if you factor in shipping and customs, it's still cheaper than the price you're getting in Taiwan.

If you don't mind used, I recall seeing some people selling some PPCs for around your budget locally.

Here are a few that I found after a quick search...

Taiwan is cheaper if you were going with a contract. However fones straight out is still quite expensive.

Thx very much for your help! I'll prolly go with the Nokia on one of the threads, if not then I'm prolly going to wait to get the ming.
