I'm currently with ATT but am thinking of switching.

If i stay with att i want to get the nexus one, but my problem is, i dont want to get it and then have it be outdated the next month since its been out for so long. I like to have the newest things. Although i usually make do with what i have. i had the original iphone til the 3gs came out. and now ive have a 3gs that i want to get rid of and switch to android

would anyone recommend the evo 4g if i went with sprint?
i also want to know about the samsung captivate? i know its supposed to be fast and nice screen etc, but i dont like the overlay, i like the original android buttons etc. and it doesnt have a flash! how could they not thing that out?
idk about verizon, but am willing to consider anything.

Basically im asking if the nexus one is outdated? and should i get it?
or should i just move on to the newer things?

any ideas? maybe get nexus one and root it? idk

I own a nexus one, on tmobile. Ive had it since they came out. Even though its been 7 months, i think that the nexus one is still the hottest, most current phone. Since its googles phone, it will be the first android phone to get updated. It might not have the largest, brightest screen, but its definately the top dog right now.

+1 I agree with the above statement.
Secondly if your into rooting etc... the great Cyanogen owns a Nexus and you will always have great mods available.

how long do you think the n1 is gonna last? for some reason, i suddenly really wanted to get one recently. i know cyanogen and google will keep the software up to date, but the hardware has got to get outdated eventually.

nexus one is a great phone. It's mostly metal, feels like a luxury product and does not have trouble with 3g as reported (at least not mine).
It is overpriced however.

The incredible is basically the same as the nexus one, but has a weird back design, is mostly plastic and not metal, and has an extra flash bulb (I think the single LED actually does very well, but more is better I guess). It also has a different interface (Sense) which is nice, but I think stock android is actually nicer (it's a matter of taste).

If you want one of the collosal phones go with evo or droid X.

Consider switching to T-mobile if you are in a location where they have good support. They have HSPA + which is actually a better implementation of 4g than sprint, verizon, or at&t. It's already out and will be fully rolled out to 185 million by the end of the year. I've tested it in in Seattle (and 20 miles to each direction) and get speeds routinely of 3-4 megabits. REALLY fast!

T-Mobile has the Samsung Vibrant for $199.00 with a 2 year agreement, it's an awesome phone but don't know if it will be rooted soon.

It's on pre order now at Radio Shack.

Thanks guys. I'm going to go with the n1. And when the n2 comes get that.
I'm not too big so the droid x and evo are probably too big for my hands. And about thesense thing I'm gonna root mine so I can get that if I want.
I'm used to the touch keyboard since I have an iPhone.
I'd get the evo if I could cancel my AT&T contract without an ETF.

Also will I be able to get unlimited data on AT&T when I get my iPhone/n1. Cuz it's at the pawn shop. Hopefully I can bitch to AT&T when I get it and get unlimited or if they say no hopefully they'll let me end without ETF so I can get the evo or n1 on tmo. Because I need unlimited since I use my phone for everything always on Data. Also I live close to la and spend time there often so I can get 4g. Which would you guys recommnd?

Thanks for the replies.
