Looking for a new phone! (cingular)

I need a new phone, I have a 6682 and it's not cutting it for me anymore. I want something that is non-bar, I can play LOTS of music on it (so it needs a memory card slot), play (good) quality videos (I will probably rip dvd's and play them on it), take decent pictures (2+ megapixel) and videos, etc. etc.

I need something that has almost everything, not to mention style, I like big screens and sleek minimalistic designs... Any suggestions for a new phone?
 
I don't think you are gonna get a really bad *** phone on a locked network like T-mobile and Cingular except for W810 which is hella branded and locked

I recommend getting an unlocked quadband gsm phone like the SE Walkman W810 or Nokia N73 Music Edition on online importers like Importgsm or Phonesource-usa. Both have Awesome Music Player and both can take great still pictures, Video recording is much better on N73 though.

But if you want something that has almost everything and money isn't a problem then Get the Nokia N95 since it has everything 5mp camera, 30fps video recording, built in GPS receiver + maps, WIFI, Quadband, EDGE, Great Mp3 and Video player with A2DP Bluetooth support and 3.5mm audio port/tv out - so u can use whatever stereo earphones/headphones u like. It has 2.6 screen so it is very large. Stereo Speakers, Great internet browser viewable in Portrait and Landscape mode, Damn whatelse. It has everything!
 
Money is sort of an options, I thought about the N95, but it's a bit pricey. I was looking at a K810i or K800 (but what kind of OS does it run? I like symbian though...). Sorry for such a dumb question but what does unlocking a phone mean?
 
As far as Cingular phones are concerned, I think the W810i and Nokia N75 are the only phones that seem to meet your requirements.

If you're getting an unlocked phone, maybe you should check out the Nokia N73 me or Sony Ericsson K810i (if you don't need gsm 850)
 
What is GSM 850/900/blahblah, what does that mean exactly, and what does unlocking mean? Also, could I use any phone that supported a sim card on cingular service? How do I know if a phone works with cingular (other than checking cingulars site)?

I do like the look of the K810i, but what kind of OS is it? I'd kind of enjoy something with wifi so I can use the internet a lot on it (without paying cingular!)
 
Different carriers in different countries use different bands (850/900, etc.). If you buy a phone meant for Europe, it may not have all the bands used by US carriers. A quad band phone is ok for sure. A tri band phone may have both or only one of the bands used in your country.

I locked phone will only work with the carrier it is locked to. So, you might have a locked phone from Cingular but if you put a T-Mobile sim in it, it wont work. Unlocking is done usually with a special code provided by the carrier or you can go to a variety of vendors who can provide it at a cost.
 
like egale1 said, you'll need a US compliant phone.

also, if your w/ cingular i'll guarantee that you'd want a phone that has the 850 AND 1900 bands on it.

what i usually do when im looking for a phone is i goto all the different phone retailers that only sell unlocked phones and look around. then i make a short list and do some research on forums to see what ppl think (such as hofo).

@ OP. Honestly, you're asking alot for something from a cell phone. You said you prefer Symbian, is the 6682 actually your first cell phone? What may want to do is keep your 6682 for a while longer and save up some money. Then when you have the funds, buy a N95...
 
Well here, I feel like i'm making things complicated. The basic's I need/want are:

Wi-Fi (NOT required, would be nice (I have wifi on my PSP if I want to go on the internet though...))
Decient camera (For decient quality pictures, I don't take that many though)
Video recording aswell (would be nice)
Nice video playback quality (For if I rip a movie and put it on my phone.. maby. AGAIN, not a required feature, my PSP can do it if the phone can't)
Good music player (I dont have an MP3 player, so this is a must)
- a way to hook it up to my car system (to listen to music in the car)
NICE display (i.e. big sexy screen)
Has to be a good looking phone too (Not a razr looking one either, I hate razr/krzr/blahblah they are all crap)

I need a phone with something around these spec's I guess... any ideas.
