Hi there would like to know which carrier and which phone would be the best ,I primarily text message and like to use the msn 2 way sms feature not having to log onto a msn application. any ideas which carrier support the 2 way sms through msn. Best price with a 1 year contract as well. Being able to access gmail as well. Descent picture quality would be nice too for the odd pic. Phone will be used in the Phoenix area. I have tried T-mobile cingular and virgin but only the pay as you go and they all do not seem to support the 2 way sms with msn

Thanks

Gerald

We can't give any advice on a carrier until we know where you will use the phone. But you really should do that research yourself. Look at where you live, work, play and/or travel and then look at the various coverage charts. Then talk to friends, relatives, coworkers etc. and see what they recommend.

Once you chose the carrier, then pick a phone that suits your needs.

With such a large metro area like Phoenix, pretty much anybody will be an option. Alltel seems to be a pretty big provider in that part of Arizona and I've always heard that there coverage there is great. If they have a phone to suit your taste though is another story. But as far as coverage goes, from everything I read online, Alltel seems like a safe bet with very competitive text messaging rates on prepaid and postpaid including the family choice plan where 1000 messages are free. They are also the king of coverage in the more rural parts outside of Phoenix. Check out this link. It highlights Alltel messaging services and it has the MSN, AIM, and Yahoo Messenger logos at the top of the screen and it looks like they are available on about every phone.

The phones designed for texting are also on the screen, including the AX490 and the Strobe, but you may prefer one of their other options. Here is also a link to see all IM-compatible phones but I don't see downloadable MSN checked off. To me, I would always rather go with a newer Motorola or the Samsung U520 even though they're not designed specifically for texting because Samsungs and Motos are generally more reliable and hold a better signal.
