Looking for a half decent bicycle for no more than £650?

Looking to buy a new as my current bike, I bought some time ago is rubbish. Spent £99 and I can safely say that I got what I paid for. I have about £650 to spend on the new one. It will be used mainly on the roads. I have looked in Halfords and a lot of the terminology used for the features means I can't tell what is good or not so good. I did like the look of the banshee x which would have been in my price range. Is this a good bike or is there something better for the same money. Thanks for Reading and any help appreciated.
 
You don't want a mountain bike to use on the road especially a full suspension one. For that amount of money look at a road bike or a hybrid. Go to the local bike shop instead of Hartford's.
