I am looking for a step-up from a 20" BMX for my 9 year old (very tall) son. We routinely bike on roads & rail-trails of varied terrain. Don't 'need' a MTB per see, but we live very urban, so it needs to withstand the punishment we give it with pot holes and curbs and occasional rocky/hard pack terrain.
I do not want to go to a 24" as with his height, he'll be out of that in a year. The Trek 3700 13" frame fits him well. They had a slightly cheaper steel one, but since he's only 9, I figure the lighter AL frame will give him much more control.
Thoughts? Suggestions of other brands/models or what have you? Another local shop carries Raleigh, but doesn't appear to have in stock any frames small enough for him. Won't pay for special order if I can't see fit ya know.
Thanks in advance for advice.
