Having been riding a 1998 Bianchi Milano since I bought it and have tons of old bikes. Lately I have really been getting into riding long distances and want a road bike with gears. Not into getting a fixie. Am starting to train for the MS150 and need something comfortable to go the distance. But, I want something that has style, is light (not carbon fiber), and might come from an independent manufacturer. Like, I'm not interested in Treks, etc, or bikes found at big-box shops. Restoring a vintage bike is an option (add grifters). Would love some advice and/or links. Also, I can't spend more than $1,000.
