The image I remember of the book is of a little girl eating soup outside sitting on a stool and a big spider crawling down its web to possibly fall into the soup?? That's all I remember, hope it rings a bell for someone!
 
Little Miss Muffett sat on a tuffett eating her curds and whey, along came a spider and sat down beside her and scared poor Miss Muffett away.

it's not a book, just a little rhyme.
