Looking for a cheap wifi enabled phone.

I'm a very basic phone user, which is funny since I work in the IT field. I just never got into mobile technology, but maybe I'm spoiled due to always having a laptop available.

Thing is, I need a phone. While I'm getting a phone, I would LOVE to have wifi so it can help me with site surveys with getting rough ideas of signal strength. I know it's not perfect but it would be a nice broad way to give me an indication on where I need to place these items at.

Besides that, I really don't have any requirements. I want to get it brand new, unlocked, and as cheap as possible.

So far, the Blackberry 8120 is the best thing I can find. Any other alternatives?

The only thing I DON'T want is any Windows-based device. Other than that, I'm wide open.

I just got a brand new Palm Pixi Plus (AT&T version) as a backup phone off Craigslist for $60! So far, so good. Get them while they are getting phased out and cheap. You can check YouTube for any reviews.

It lags, but I can live with it being it only cost me $60 with no contract. It would really make a great sidekick to my iPhone 4 just to save battery cycles on both devices.

Get a VM Optimus V and it will run wifi without a plan. Or add a $35. data plan for 300 minutes with unlimited text and data.
Had the Palm Pixi...sucks is the word that comes to mind. Had it on PagePlus and the operating system is pathetic..not intuitive at all. Optimus will give you the android market with MANY options. Used, excellent condition Optimus phones can be found easily for $80. and new (with coupons) for $110.

I would suggest getting the original Motorola Droid (A855) ($70) and use PagePlus Cellular's $10 Standard Plan which gives you service for 120 days (or until you use up the $10, LoL. Whatever comes first)! They also have other rates and plans to choose from. It's decent "old" smartphone with WiFi and you'll also be getting great service coverage!
