Looking for a book I read as a teenager and cant remember the title or author?

It was about 4 teenagers with powers and they all go to this place thinking its helping them to control there abilities but really there testing them and theres this crystal, one of the boys is named gabriel, and they escape, the go to canada, and theres a part were theres crazy slugs on there car, they have to go back to the bad guy and yah cant really remember much else, it was 3 books in one i believe, and it was possesion or power or beginning or the crystal?????
