If you want to avoid "burnbutt", when riding in the hot weather, use some wicking underwear and put a little dab of Triple Anitbiotic Ointment on your ass before starting out. You can buy this stuff at WalMart for afew bucks. Bacteria causes the burn and getting rid of the sweat plus killing the bacteria will leave you burn free plus you'll have a nice soft ass at the end of the ride. Told my riding buddies about this and they laughed at me on the first day outand by day two want to borrow my ointment. They never leave home without on a long trip now.

Went on 6500 mile trip two years ago.Best things ive found are foot pags for multiple positions.Gel pads are good,as probaly are lots of items mentioned above. The sheep skin works good to keep but cool.I use my t-bag as backrest.I wrap a small piece of faom rubber on side I rest against, also when packing bag keep all items at front of soft cushy nature(t-shirts,socks and such).;We packed hydration pack on top and filled with ice(get one with big opening) and water, this got us thru on some very hot days in Kanasas.Like one guy mentioned doing some but touffening runs dont hurt either.I live about 210 miles from myrtle beach ,Ill take Sunday ride down eat, cjeck out the hot T&A have early dinner and head home. Its cheap day at beach and good warm up run about 500 miles for the day with good amount of rest stops.

i try to stop at real nice places, you know the ones....they got blow dryers in the bathrooms...i go in, drop them drawers and blow dry the boys

I did the SS 1000 as a ride a couple of years ago, and last summer did what turned out to be two SS 1000's and one Bun Burner 1500 going to and from Sturgis in order to make the outbound and inbound legs two days of travel instead of three from Metro Atlanta. Have the start time and end times duly witnessed and keep the gas receipts with mileage--all have been IBA certified.

The only additon I'd offer is to take some Advil or equivalent before you ride and have a plan. Riding 135-150 miles, roughly 2 hours, then gassing, drinking some water in a 15-30 minute break ateach gas stopworked great.

Unless you already have a backrest and/or highway pegs, I found I could ride comfortably without either--probably because that's the way I learned to ride my EG.

I prefer to leave at or just before dawn and get as much riding done in daylight as possible, so an East to West route is preferred.

For some reason I really like my stock Street Glide seat. Compared to my old Fat Boy seat it is so comfortable. I used to put 500 miles a day on a Fat Boy Badlander seat. So I must really love my stock SG seat!!

2 things, pain relievers before you start and bike shorts. bike shorts are longer and do not cause the crease of you tidey whiteys do on your leg also they improve circulation to you lower extremeties because they fit tightly!
