Long distance riding secrets...

O.K.forum-ites... looking for secrets to long distance riding. My problem is butt burn... how do you avoid it? I know I probably need to change out my stock seat but what have you found as good strategies to go the distance 500mi+ per day without getting "the burn"? Do you get off every hour for short stops to increase circulation?? How long do you normally ride miles or time before you get off??

I'm thinking about doing an iron butt this summer and appreciate your input. Please don't tell me what you "think" will work, tell me what you have "done" that works for you.

I am doing handlebars to get me ready for my first long distance ride. The boys invited me to go with them from Austin to Big Bend National park. Hell, I gotta get the 500+ miles to Austin from NWA.

They continue to tell me, that if I do nothing else, get an adjustable backrest that I can install myself and raise the handlebars. ASAP!

Other than that, we will go a tank of petrol and stop and rest ... unless a bar comes into view and we need a beer... this will not be a race for us.

I dont know if you have luggage but I put my luggage in front of my passenger backrest and it solves my needs for a driver backrest!

Had a Corbin on my RKC and found it way to hard... didn't help on that bike. Loved Corbin on my Ducati and Honda CBR 1000 but hated it on the Harley??

Florida, you're just a lot tougher that I am!!

Get a sheep skin (wool) cover for your seat and it will make a world of difference in the world. I have a piece that is rough cut to just big enough to sit on and it's great.
