Locking (joint) groin pain when swinging into a side kick, but why?

If I swing to wide to my side, I end up with the above. And this is mostly after warm up.
break into steps?
Maybe I should try some extra stretching methods.
Straight leg swing to the side, almost like ballet.
 
you are either 1..not relaxed and tensing up,2 throwing high without bringing knee up first,3 actually overstreching at warmup causing contractions or a few other things ,as i say without seeing or a real accurate description of how u kick i cant tell
