Loads Of Mates In The Year Above Me, Is It Weird?

I have a whole group of mates in the year above me. I hang out with them at lunch and break. I love being with them but do you think its weird. I do have mates in my year but I find it fun being with them - Is that ok or just strange.?
 
Don't worry. I used to be like that when I was in high school. I used to have all my best friends and stuff in the year above me because no one in my year shared the same interests I did. I used to have around with the friends in my year while I was in excursions or class.
