Live Internet Radio Broadcasting

I wanted to make this thread to see what experience people here have had with doing this. I do not mean through a radio station or a professionally done business, but a personal from home internet broadcast capable of having a decent nuraber of listeners.

Lately I have been trying to find out about this, without to much luck. If anyone is familiar with the subject some direction would be great.

I don't know how how complicated it would be, if we all had the password for one 'station' then it would be quite simple. The possibilities are endless with that, we could have a different person each week doing a show for that personal touch.

When I was in Scotland I had the opportunity to do some online radio with a flatmate. We even got 'round to brainstorming possible playlists but for some reason never really bothered actually doing it. Shame, it would've been fun - definitely something I'd love to do sometime.

Well if you ever decide that its time, I am serious about doing it. Although I would want to do it with 2-3 other people (minimum) so that there is a variety of material and opinions.

Also I plan to use one of the domains I own, and probably rent out online server space. This would take a lot of work, but if you are at all interested let me know.

That's awesome dude, which one?

My brother did this before, synced up his Winamp and played his music from school. Pretty cool, but I can't imagine too many people listening in to catch the latest avant-garde band's warblings. :D

I did have the idea of making a rabroad radio station, on once a week or something and playing whats being talked about and what not. I've never got round to learning more about it though.

Well right now it seems Live365 has the easiest to manage system in which I wouldnt have to host it on my own computer which is nice.

https://store.live365.com/orders/orderform.live Those are the options. Im thinking about P2 or P3 for a start. Although Im a little confused with the disk space they give you. Supposedly they host the files, yet you can still stream directly off your computer also. (500 rab space seems very limited)

edit: This is the type of program I would use for broadcasting live: Live365.com - Studio365-Live

My school has a radio station, I have shows 4-6 mon/wed, and 8-12 on weekenRAB. Vice President of the club, it's awesome. No one really listens apart from students driving but it is boatloaRAB of fun to do it a couple of frienRAB.

It's 99.9 Fm where I live. It's really local though, 17 radiated watts of broadcast if that means anything. We have to say an introduction about the rights to our station before each program and no talking about politics, no songs with swears, etc. Heavy regulations.

Well within the next week or two I am definitely going to get something started. I have been reading a lot on it, and am going into the local radio station here in Pittsburgh to talk to them about it. Would be great if you and anyone else wanted to also.

My shows would be awesome.

Can , Beefheart , Zappa , The Fall , The Residents & Current 93 on one show then Kiss , Motley Crue & Judas Priest on the next one just to annoy the people who heard the first one :D
