A question, do you have to have to seen 1-3 to watch this? I've never seen the first 3 (I was a kid back then), but I've got a copy of this. Don't know what to expect.

How have you never seen die hard 1 or 2 WOW, they are the ultimate xmas movies.

iv seen both of em countless times and im only 17 so theres no excuse that your too young ma laddo haha

It doesn't require that you've seen 1-3, but if you've never seen the first three then i HIGHLY recommend you see them somehow. They are some of the best action movies you'll ever see, and you can get the old trilogy boxset quite cheap now too.

When it comes to this film... the only version worth watching is the Unrated/Extended Edition. The Theatrical Version is a watered down mess. It is featured as part of the Die Hard 4.0: Ultimate Action Edition here. The difference in violent content, language, etc is night and day. Eamonn McCusker from DVD Times gets on my nerves with his "couldn't tell the difference" malarkey. I seriously doubt he gave either version of the film his undivided attention to be honest.

The Unrated version has actually been out in the UK since the end of October, it came out on the same day as the Theatrical version. Over here it's called the "Ultimate Action Edition" and comes in a nice silver slip sleeve. You have to shop around for it though, most shops are only stocking the theatrical version for some reason.

From the time I posted, I did a Google search. I read the DVD Times review and naturally rolled my eyes. To be honest, that doesn't surprise me. Probably because most of the time I don't agree, or they don't get their facts straight.

Just have to say on this subject that i dont know how this film had only average reviews as i thought it was fantastic! It was just full of action from start to end.

The only thing i am gutted about is that it will only be available on Bluray and not HD-DVD (even though i found it stupid they showed Gears of War at the start of the film, which is a Microsoft game, who back HD-DVD!?)

What do everyone else think of this?
I dont think you need to see the first 3 to watch it, as ive watched 1 & 2 many years ago and cannot remember much of them and it didnt spoil this film in anyway. Except of course the reference in the end - which is Johns trademark - 'ipikaye motherf*cker!' hehe
