Live cover or artificial insemination?

Just curious to see what people prefer. And if you're a TB person pretend you had the option to AI. Would you?

I prefer AI over live cover. It's safer for both horses and handlers, you can get an exact breeding dose (therefore one ejaculate from a stallion can impregnate multiple mares), and it's more controlled.

What do you guys think and why?
I hadn't actually considered the Darwinistic approach with the sperm and everything. So I started thinking about it. It actually makes no difference if a strong sperm cell or a weak sperm cell fertilized the egg. As soon as the sperm reaches the egg genetic material is released into it and the genetic material is identical in each sperm cell. The retard sperm (two heads, bent tail, etc) won't ever fertilize and egg regardless. And there are calculations to determine how much semen to give a mare depending on it's quality. But for fresh semen you want at least 500,000,000 good sperm cells per breeding dose so you wouldn't really run the risk of a "lesser" sperm cell fertilizing the egg anyway. But like you said, breeding's not your thing and I understand your thought process.

Lucky for me I get to look at sperm cells under a microscope almost daily to determine their quality.
Oh and as for safety, it's not a ton safer for humans, but it is a little. You have one less horse to handle as some mares don't like breeding and start kicking and such. But it's ultimately safer for the mare because you won't have all the friction from the stallion's penis. With AI, you use lots of
lube and with live cover you only rely on hers. And I can't imagine a 1000lb stallion jumping on her would feel good anyway. It's ALS safer for the stallion because you have a lower risk for penile lacerations and you know you don't have a mare that's going to kick him.
