Live Android for CarPC-Project

Hi everybody,

I am informing myself about android / live android for a while now..... and I was wondering if it would be possible to use the live android os for a car-pc...
what do you think about this??

I mean sure it would be possible when the pc is an x86-platform..... but would it also be good and usable?? I am planning a car-pc and since I am not such a MS-Fan.... I am looking for some other alternatives beside my favorite Kubuntu....

Is there any way to listen to radio-stations with android (without beeing connecten to the internet)? I mean it is possible to "plug in" the antenna with a pcmcia-card to the pc... but are there the right drivers for android now??

what about gps navigation-system?? can you use all the android mobile-phone software on the live android too??

if you have an ideas..... please just come up with it ;-)

Regards!

I just found a very interesting video on youtube..... that guy there is receiving FM-Radio in Android.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgGXKJg8bOo&feature=channel

but I couldn't understand how exactly this is going.... which FM-Tuner Card is he using? and which driver??

ok, he is using a beagleboard.... but i would say if it works on that little machine.... then it must also work with an intel atom....somehow!

Hi, we basically have same project!

Ok, i have build a Carputer to my 71 Citroen DSuper. It has MSI Windbox, toutchscreen, Silabs USB radio module and Rcjoycon EX remote to USB converter with Sony RM-X2S.
Project can be found here:
www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/worklogs/139885-citroen-big-cat-twitch.html

I now have WinXP with Centrafuse 3.1. It works really good, but since i came across to Spotify, and after i tested it in the car, i was blown away by its possiblities.

Problem is the Spotify UI @ 800x600 7" TFT in Car... You cannot use it unless you park the car to make selections.

Solution would be Spotify Mobile. I decided to try out this:
Androidx86 project + Asus EeePc 901 + Spotify Mobile...
Souds great? It would be if Spotify Mobile would be ported for non_phone_Adroid...

So here i am, wondering where to go from here... If anyone has any lock, i am more than intrested to hear about them.

We have same project =)

I have CarPC build on WXP and MSI Windbox II and 7" toutchscreen.

I would love to have Android based CarPc. Then i would not need to have antivirus sw on my 71 Citroen DSuper.... Blaah!

For now the biggest restriction seems to be lack of good (any) CarPC software for Anroid.
I thought about Spotify, witch would do nicely, especially Mobile version of it.
www.spotify.com - http://www.spotify.com/fi/mobile/overview/
but since Asus EeePc with Android is not a phone, it is impossible...

So if any ideas comes up, i am listening!

About the radio, if some radio hw is supported with Android, it works. My Silabs USB radio is not... Dunno what radio would be like that. The Youtube video seems to tell mee, that i have to have some extra hw to play with...
