Live-action "Bleach" film in the works!

Holy cow, oddly enough I'm just getting into the show.
I'm at episode 55 now and people were saying that this is the one show that couldn't be turned into live action, than this pop's up LOL. I'm dredding this at the same time I'm curious. Who could they possibly choose for the main characters? Oh gah, please no one in Twilight or I'll puke

Well, to put it simply...

No. No. No.
No. No. No.
No. No. No.
No. No. No.
No. No. No.
No. No. No.
No. No. No.
No. No. No.
No. No. No.

Unless of course I'm writing it, then I'll know it would be good.

For those who are wondering, I dropped my jaw, hit my head to force the image out, and now I reply with this.

Yeah, the pre-Soul Society arc storyline would work best, better characters to use, less characters cut.

Should this be put in live action forums and Anime forums?
Cuz there's already one in the anime forums but since its being delt with live action too, just thought. If not, please close this k?

The Hollywood Reporter newspaper's Heat Vision blog reports that the American film studio Warner Brothers "is in the process of securing the movie rights to" Tite Kubo's Bleach supernatural action manga series. Director Peter Segal (Get Smart, The Longest Yard, Anger Management) is lining himself up to produce, but not direct. The manga's North American publisher Viz Media and Segal's Callahan Filmworks partner Michael Ewing would also produce the proposed project.

The manga follows a 15-year-old boy named Ichigo Kurosaki who becomes a Soul Reaper — a "Shinigami" or "God of Death" who protects humans from the "Hollow" spirits that prey on them. Shueisha publishes the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan, and Studio Pierrot has been adapting the manga on television and in movie theaters since 2004. The Adult Swim programming block of America's Cartoon Network and Canada's YTV channel have been running the anime.
Warner Brothers has already acquired the rights to adapt Tsugumi Orabroada and Takeshi Obata's Death Note supernatural suspense manga, which — like Bleach — is published by Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan and by Viz Media in North America. Along with Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way production company, Warner Brothers is also developing adaptations of Yoshiaki Kawajiri and MADHOUSE's Ninja Scroll action anime film and Katsuhiro Otomo and Kodansha's Akira science-fiction manga. Viz set up an office in Hollywood in 2008 to promote Viz's properties to Hollywood interests. Update: More background information added.

Say it with me, WTF?!

They never learn do they?

Hypothetically, if they actually want to do this right, which I doubt, I'd say just stick to the style of everything pre-Soul Society. Everything featuring Soul Society would probably be laughably bad in live-action

You know...sadly
I could see Pattinson as Grimmjow.
They have do have a similar facial structure and build.. heck even the hair.

You all are actually expecting them to cast the character's based on what they look like in the series?

I seriously doubt they give a care about that stuff. All they care about is making it "mainstream" so it will succeed. That doesn't work too well as we saw with Dragon Ball Evolution, but apparently they won't learn.

Guys just to put things in perspective.

This announcement ultimately means nothing in the long run.

Just for analysis, in 2002 for example Fox announced the licensing of making a live action movie of Dragon Ball. So that means 7 years later we saw a cheap rushed piece of garbage live action movie that no one saw.

Basically this means that WB made some sort of development deal on the Bleach property.

So ultimately there's no guarantees or time frame here in getting a movie made, shot, and released.

A few years ago, MOTU set up shop under WB. WB had scripts written and some early pre-production work done, but it never got off the ground. Ultimately, Mattel took MOTU back and set up a new deal with Sony, but still there's little if any movement going on.

So we might never see a Bleach movie. We might see one years from now or whatever, but honestly this topic isn't really even worth addressing at this point until something is actually in front of the cameras.

Until something is in front of the cameras ALL BETS R OFF.

I wonder if Kubo will speak about the rumors on his Twitter?

Anyhow, if a live action film has to be made, it'd better not be trash. In terms of raw story, capping the film with the Grand Fisher (as well as covering the subplot about Ichigo's mom) would be the most logical way to go about things, at least for a single one film.

There is no way this is going to end well, unless they just did the movie about Ichigo and the Grandfisher, I can't see it completely following the whole Soul Society arc. ...I mean...a live action Captains meeting? Spare me please..

And I can't take a live action Hitsugaya, Kenpachi, and Byakuya seriously. xP

I'm still writing a screenplay. At least for certain scenes.

And before any more bad jokes are made at the expense of my writing skill, let me just say I actually do write for a living, albeit in the legal field.

I doubt this'll get off the ground. Kubo hasn't given up the live action movie rights yet, and I doubt he ever will. X)

But I agree, a pre-SS arc story could be adapted fairly easily. I wouldn't do a straight adaptation 'cause there's too much stuff to cram in there, but a side story could work pretty well.

Oh geeze, I just thought of a way to make it more accessible to Americans too... XD
