Live-action "Bleach" film in the works!

Live-action "Bleach" film in the works!

If it the setting changes from Japan to America wouldn't that change things up so drastically they might as well not even call it Bleach?

Maybe the movie could just be about Ken-chan/Kenny being unknowingly transported to middle of a El D

Wait...they're serious?

I don't know why. The concept is kinda like Dragonball. It doesn't lend itself well to a live action version for the concept sans dramatic alteration, and those don't work 9 times out of 10.

I resent that. As someone who did get published back in college (for poetry and a short story) I can safely say that I would be able to write a better script than Dragonball Evolution.

I'm also willing to bet this goes the way of Zac Effron's Full Metal Panic.

Well there already was Bleach live musical so we know it can be done. Now I wonder if they go throught with this will they use japanese actors or pull a Last Airbender and replace everyone with a white person?

Well, Japan is crazy with their ideas sometimes so that's why the Bleach musical works. It's not really meant to be taken 100% seriously like the Prince of Tennis musicals.

Now, I enjoyed Speed Racer so I'm gonna wait till some more info but geez.

I bet American Ichigo will be totally gunning for Orihime or even better in a love triangle with Rukia and Orihime. I mean, it's not like he's oblivious to love or anything. (Funny thing is, I bet American Ichigo will be almost relatively more interesting than current Ichigo )

That another thing. All the characters except for Chad have japanese names. I guess they will all become Bob or John or Stacy if the movie doesn't uses japanese actors.

You know I looked at this and thought to myself
turn a mediocre shonen into an action movie is just as bad if not worse than the current manga progression
but then I started thinking about hollywood magic. And I realize if money is placed into this movie, it could possibly not be bad...
*looks at dbe*
...
maybe this could be different...but there are issues because bleach is so full of japanese cultural styings and norms, could they make an acceptable movie for the American population without removing a lot of the japanese norms and traditions (that are oh, integral to the plot, you know like the idea of a death god, pseudo bodies, I mean I can see very big religious activists vehemently against this title)

all in all, wait and see attitude IMHO. But I am intrigued to see orihime in the movie...for obvious reasons
and blonde; definitely want to see her blonde!

It could be good if its done right though. At least I can definitely see the movie ending with pre-fisher arc and rukia being kidnapped as a cliffhanger to the second movie dealing with soul society and 9 movies to do hueco mundo (okay that's an exaggeration but still)

Obligatory comment first: it can't be worse than Dragon Ball Evolution.

If it were up to me, I'd make it an action drama and have the villain be some version of Grand Fisher. The Quincy angle is good though.

If you ask me, it's probably easier to adapt this than Dragon Ball or Naruto. At the end of the day, it's people fighting with sworRAB and supernatural powers. We've already gone there with vampires via Blade and Blood: The Last Vampire. Why not ghosts?

Of course, so far as I know those movies aren't exactly regarded as really good films (though I haven't seen live-action Blood). But I wouldn't call this an impossible title to adapt by any means. It's definitely not as easy as Death Note though.

This is pretty darn premature, though. This is Warner Bros almost having the film rights, but that's a long way off from a serious movie project happening.

Full Metal Panic fell through? I actually cared a bit about that one.

Paranormal is "in" at the moment, that might help. Really, I think Bleach not being over is more detrimental to adaptation than anything else.

My memory's a little fuzzy on the timing: didn't DB:E only get greenlit because of the Writer's Strike?

You know, this is actually making me feel like I should be a filmmaker in the future, because I can actually do any anime stuff right.

Well, that, and I would like to do films about obscure anime. Imagine me doing a Pani Poni Dash film. I don't think there's ever been a movie about a crazy as hell school...right?

That's exactly why. Hollywood was going through their trasrabroadin essentially, looking for recyclables.

Grand Fisher? Hmm, him and Uryu as the primary antagonists could work rather well, with the latter trying to manipulate Hollows and the former having none of it, but you have to wonder if Bleach - Aizen and his confusion is epic enough for the big screen.

One Piece doesn't have exposure for that but I would go see a live action One Piece because it would be possibly even more hilariously bad than DBE.

But yeah I guess the world is better off without such a thing coming into existance.

Nearly a week ago, where have you been? You can still call me Sketch though. It's certainly easier to remeraber and type.

Well, only the Japanese can pull it off.

What? No. I just can't believe this. I hope it gets canceled fast. Really fast. I saw Dragonball: E. I know what Hollywood is capable of.

I mean, c'mon, Death Note is much easier and more realistic. Bleach is, well, not realistsic, and they'll need some very good special effects to pull it off. AS for actors, I just don't know.

Actually Bleach is fairly easy: Boy has weird powers. Boy meets living dead girl who has similar powers. Crap hits fan, girl accidentally gives boy all of her powers. Boy must fill in for her while her powers recover. Mayhem ensues.

That's the Karakura arc in a nutshell right there.

I wouldn't even mess with Grand Fisher in all honesty. The biggest mistake Hollywood makes when it adapts a long running title is diving right into the meat of a story that takes volumes and volumes to tell, and trying to condense it all into a couple of hours. If this movie happens they should keep it simple, do basically a re-hash of the first few chapters to introduce the world and characters, then veer off into a side story with original villains and such.

A lot of negative here. This is the one manga series that can be adapted to film. Everything can be condensed into a trilogy (we call for editing every time a chapter's released), and everybody wears matching black uniforms.
