little house on prarie the big woods?

ok i need some help. i need to know how to write a perscription of a front or a little house in a small town like this book is? the author laura ingalls wilder makes it sound great and i have to write a book something like it for my class well a short story. but what style would you use to describe the past with the authors written book?
