little cuts in corners of mouth

I get this all the time. This last time I did some searching and found out it is caused by a vitamin B deficiency and/or a fungus. I have tried just about everything in the past including hydrocortisone cream and expensive OTC Herpes balms. Nothing seemed to help and it took weeks for it to go away. This time I tried Lamisil cream (Lamisil does not claim it is for this use). It's for Athletes Foot (which is also a fungus) and it worked great. Please be very careful not to get it inside your mouth.

My husband has had these little cuts for about a month. Tried vaseline, antibiotic cream and chap stick. They just won't go away and are irritable. I heard there might be some kind of deficiency if you have these.
Any thoughts on how to get rid of them or any suggestions why he has them.
Thankyou

It is caused by by a yeast/fungal or bacterial infection. It is called Angular Chelitis. Look it up. My sister used to get it (like nyastin cream or mycalog). Go to the Dermatologist and he or she can prescribe proper cream.

My husband and I get these all the time--we smoke--Our Dr. said it is vitamin-B deficiency and or fungus. She said to us Monistat External Cream (which is for yeast infections). It works for us. Hope this helps. precious49

I have cleared that up in the past with Carmex in the little jars, available at most drug stores. I'm sure you have Carmex up in Canada, right?

"Cuts on the corner of the mouth" can be a lot of things, including all of what was mentioned here, but it sounds like you're describing something called angular cheliitis which is a manifestation of iron deficiency. You should have your iron levels checked.

Hey, I have two cheap nonfail solutions. First buy aloe vera GEL in the health food store. A bottle of thisFOOD SUPPLEMENT COST 7.99 OR LESS,
AND THAT'S FOR A QUART! kEEP IT IN THE FRIDGE ONCE OPENED. TRY A vitamin cottage store, or Whole Foods, or Natural Grocers. or online.
but be sure and buy the gel. Just put it on your cuts and feel the relief.
Keep it on all day. Carry a little in a tiny jar.
Also buy BLISTEX "DCT" conditioning treatment ointment, in pale peach jar. cost 3.99 use it everyday and you won't get these cuts.
also high vitamin C, 1000mg a day. you'll get better.
do not buy another Blistex product, only the DCT. It can be hard to find.
try Walgreens.

This happened to me this year. Cuts on both sides of mouth. Nothing could get rid of it. I went to the Dr. and he said I had oral thrush. Very painful. If this could possibly be the culprit-then you'll need a special antibiotic prescription cream. Plus the oral prescription medicine you'll need to take for 10 days to clear up the inside of your mouth.

I hope & pray this is not the case.

If your problem recurs, Carmex will stop being effective. I have had this problem for years, have tried every mouth balm that I can find.
Do try and take a B-Complex regularly...that seems to keep it in check. I have found, at least in my case that stress will bring it on with a vengence. I have been on-line half the day today because I HAVE to move and woke up with my lips screaming. I have been looking to a cure or at least something different and I don't want to pay 49.00 for some ones made up one, even if it works. The reason I have to move is money issues. I am going out to get some Lamisil and Lotrimin and try those. Will post if they work.
