ps. new to boards & unsure if this should be posted somewhere else.

pps. also: is Bio-Lithium the same as Lithomin?

The generic name is lithium orotate.

Careful with the dose, Li -even OTC Li- can become toxic very quickly, especially in summer time. Sweating, stress, anti-inflammatories and changes in metabolism can increase level of Li in the blood. If you plan to be on it for any length of time you'll also need to get your thyroid checked yearly, as it can cause hypothyroid and goiter. (while thyroid problems can develop quickly, those side effects usually only occur after years of use)

thanks for the responses guys!

i dont know what it is. a customer came into the healthy food store looking for it & i searched to see if we could order it for her but couldnt come up with anything. i cant remember what it was supposed to treat but it was listed in a book she had.

AuntieLeela: thanks for the heads up. i couldnt find much info on it at all. i will pass this warning onto her tho so she knows. could you tell me where you found this info/warning?

thanks again everyone!

Kat

There's many, many commercial and "encyclopedia" sites that list lithium orotate and it's uses and side effects as a supplement.

There's not much in the way of actual science on LiO. I wish they'd research OTC options like this more thoroughly. PubMed has a few studies. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez
