LisaMarie,
You recently responded to my thread about spiro and you said you were on 100mg and then uped it to 150. It's my fourth month and I would like to up mine to 150mg too. My question is what did you notice?? less pimples...less oil (because my face is still oily at times). How many days did you start to notice this and was it a huge difference? Sorry there are so many questions but I just wanna know from someone who's had the experience! Thank you!

Also..I just talked to my doctor and he told me to go ahead and just take two pills...so that means I'll be taking 200mg....is that too much?

Hi! Well when I first started taking spiro I could notice in a couple days that the oil was getting less and less. When I upped spiro to the 150 mgs per day, after a couple of days on it I could tell that my face was looking better and better. I started getting less pimples until one day there was none. I have no pimples on my face right now and I will be getting my period on not tomorrow but next WenRABday. By now I would be already breaking out for it. It was a pretty big difference for me be/c I wasn't getting as many cysts. I don't really remeraber exactly how many days it was but it wasn'y many. I don't even think it was a week before I noticed that know more breakouts were coming up.

I don't think 200mgs is too much. If you got the book The hormonally vulnerable woman, it tells you to take care of acne it's between I think 100mgs to 200mgs. SOMETIMES 75 mgs can be enough. The book talks about spiro and birth control pills and will be helpful to a woman all through her years I feel. So I'm very glad that someone mentioned it on this board.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask, it's no problem. I remeraber how horriable (spelling) I felt going through all of this and want to try to help someone else through their time.

Thanks soo much for responding. I just didn't know what to do because it's been almost 4 1/2 months and I was still getting break outs. It feels so much better having someone on here who has been through it because you understand...and people who don't get breakouts really don't understand. But my doctor told me to just take two pills each night..so that'd be 200 mg...so hopefully I'll see some good results soon! Thank u!

Your Welcome! Trust me I know people don't understand acne unless they go through it. It took me until the 5th month to start seeing the results that I wanted to. That's also whe I added the 50mgs. Good Luck!!:)

LisaMarie...
I started taking the 200 mg this past Tuesday...is there anyway that that much could break me out? I started adding this new mary kay acne gel with my normal stuff....and I woke you today..and im broke out around my nose area and a little bit there on my cheeks by my nose..but I did use it on my forehead and its okay (knock on wood) so I dunno maybe if the nose part was just too sensitive for this stuff...or if it's the spiro...I didn't know maybe if going too high might reverse everything??

Hi Krista,
I am on 200mg/day also, have been for just over 5 months. My endocrinologist said it cannot make you breakout, but I think that I did. At 5 months I am mostly clear. I have these stubbord whiteheaRAB that seem to never go away, but overall I've had pretty good progress over the last couple of months. I am still debating whether or not to go on Accutane. My skin is mostly clear, as I said, but I was thinking of doing low-dose Accutane treatment to push my skin to become 100% clear. This is a constant debate in my own head because I don't want to breakout from the Accutane. For you though, I would do the 200mgs, like your doc requested, don't add anymore products (stick with your usual skin care regimine), and wait it out a couple more months and see how you do. Good luck!
