Lip bump?

Couldn't find a fitting forum for this, so I'll try in the general one.

I woke up this morning and found there's a little red bump on my upper lip, on the right side of my cupid's bow. I figured it was a cold sore, but wanted to find out so I googled it.
Every single source on google said that cold sores are only caused my herpes. I can assure you there's no way I could contract herpes right now.

It is a small bump, it's a little red, it does NOT hurt and there's no puss coming from it. It was itchy once during the day, but it is completely painless. There is only one, and I have never had one before. Could it just be acne? Or is it something more?

I also started metronidazole a couple days ago, could it be a side effect or what? I just want it to go away, it looks icky and I don't want people to think I have herpes :(

You can contract a cold sore years ago and years later it can pop out. It sound not a pimple, but not sure. Herpes comes in all shapes and sizes. You can get herpes from contact by touch or kiss. It could also be an ingrown hair. I think that a doctor could look at it and tell you or have a scrape taken from it and tested.
