Synopsis:
With the school festival just around the corner, three teenage girls decide to form a rock band. But things don’t go quite as planned for the trio, thanks to the abrupt departure of their guitarist from the group. While the band’s bassist Nozomi (real-life musician Sekine Shiori) and its drummer Kyoko (Maeda Aki) are able to find a keyboard player named Kei (Kashii Yu) to fill in on guitar, they have a harder time finding someone to fill in as lead vocalist. Soon enough, the bandmates realize they have no choice but to ask a Korean exchange student named Song (Bae Du Na, from Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) to sing lead for their makeshift band. However, there’s one little problem: Song can barely speak a word of Japanese, let alone sing it!

The synopsis above is a bit misleading because it makes it sound like the movie is a loud, light-hearted comedy. It's not although there are some cute, funny moments. It's actually a very nice, quiet drama with some GREAT music. The story is deliberately paced (slow) but I was very into it and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Here's the trailer: LINK

The bass player is out of one of my fave banRAB, so like that's an instant + for me ( The band being 'Base Ball Bear'), been wanting to see this film for a while. Heard it's supposed to be really good!

I should have mentioned that the movie has English subtitles.

Oh, one more thing about the movie:

The girls sing 3 songs (including "Linda Linda Linda") from a popular real-life (now disbanded) Japanese band called "Blue Hearts". Later in the film, the girls eventually call their band "Paran Maum". It's Korean that literally translates as "Blue Hearts". It's their little tribute to the real group.
