I know that the Civil War started because of the differences between the north and the south, and the attack on fort sumter, and i think lincoln led the union through the war, but im confused about what he actually did. I know about the emancipation proclamation, and the Gettysburg address, but how did he "lead" it? i'm curious, and i've searched a lot of sites but they dont really mention much about him. Thanks.
