I love the sci-fi genre in shows and movies, but I'm starting to get into reading and would like someone to recommend a good sci-fi book and/or author with a few conditions:
1. no horror, paranormal or fantasy
2. not too dark and please nothing distrubing
3. not a lot of violence...at least not gross violence
I am an avid fan of the Stargates, Battlestar Galactica, Eureka, Doctor Who, etc...if that helps in the suggestions. Don't necessarily want to read the books based off of those shows though.
