I'm from new England but I really want to go to college at Texas AM.
I've heard that Texas is a lot different- very slow lifestyle and lots of rednecks. I've traveled a lot to know that there are a lot of steroypes, but is that kind of true? Can you explain lifestlye there and if it's a lot different from the northeast.

I do like NASCAR and although I dont live in a city I go to school In a big city.

Thanks for any help. And on itouch keyboard so sorry for typos.
know you have cities
Dallas Austin and Houston
But I was just wondering how the lifestyle is. And thanks for your answer

Yeah, your right about the stereotype thing. And this is the one stereotype that I hate. People in Texas are not all rednecks. You rarely see them at all, and when you do, they're in a small town in the middle of no where, so unless you visit small towns in the middle of no where, you won't see them at all! TX has some of the largest cities in the country, such as Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, etc., are people forgetting about that when they say there is nothing but rednecks in TX? Its ridiculous.
Uhm, as for alot different? No. Not alot. Like some people are saying, its a bit warmer, not alot though. People are nicer. But not alot different.

No, texas isnt exactly like the North East. Even in Cities. But most of the Rednecks live in small towns. People are more polite. Cowboy hats are more common. Its a lot hotter. People talk with southern accents. There more religouse to. Footballs a huge deal. But other than that, not really. A lot of Mexican food, and Barbeque.

heck no! i am from texas and people are not rednecks.

everyone is polite and there are cities and great places to visit. we are exactly like the norhteast

First of all I lived in BCS aka Bryan/College Station for many years and went to TAMU. College Station where TAMU is located is okay. Bryan is a dump. Nightlife is limited, through. Everything closes down around 1 A.M. and College Station Police and Campus Police are everywhere waiting to write tickets. Most of the students go to a place called Northgate where most of the bars have been there probably before you were born. There are, of course, many country clubs that are very fun. Try taking Country and Western Dancing at TAMU and start going to them, it is a lot of fun. The students and the people of B/CS are not rednecks, however, most are from Texas. When you select an apartment make sure it is on the TAMU shuttle bus route. There are about 200,000 people between Bryan and College Station when I lived there last. B/CS is a college town hence mostly students live there and during the X-mas break the town is dead for the most part. It has a mall, cinema, bars, clubs, etc. Try living at University Oaks Blvd. and Munson Ave. it is in the heart of sororities lane, hence it is on a main shuttle bus route and you will not have to wait but maybe 5 mins. for the next bus during peak times. Hope this helps.
