Liberty and Tyranny questions...Can someone explain to me the book?

I have to read this book over the summer b/c my mother is a hard core republican and she wants me to read this by the time school starts (Aug. 30th)b/c she says the school is feeding us liberal crap where I live so she wants me to read this. BUT also have to read 3 other books for honors english (The Red Badge of Courage, The Old Man and The Sea, and The Lord of the Flies) so i'm not about to read the book again to figure out the meaning b/c also on top of that I have XC starting the first week of Aug.

Thank You!! and someone whose a hardcore republican like my mom plz give me a response but in a way i will understand...i'm only 14 years old.
 
Your mother seem to be right about the liberal crap because your liberal teachers have developed you into a lazy shit who is afraid of hard academic work.
