LGBT: Is/ was homosexuality promoted in your culture?

In Hawaiian culture there is something called a "mahu." Now if someone were to call you this, it'd be super insulting - to most people it means fag. Though in ancient times it wasn't anything more than a term.

That's all that I can think of right now, but yeah...
A mahu is pretty much someone who was born a guy but raised as a girl due to some circumstances in the household
I want to change something. Promoted should be read as "respected"

Nope, definitely not promoted. Respected to a reasonable degree, but generally your parents will NOT be happy if you come out to them. On the bright side, they probably wouldn't kick you out of the house, but they would still be disappointed.

There aren't many cultures that promote or respect homosexuality...only one i can think of was the ancient Greeks, where the majority had make lovers and a wife.

No. And it's hard dealing with being gay. I'm not. But I have several friends that went to church (I was "raised" being baptist), but came out. I'm no longer a christian, and I feel horrible about the way these people were treated.

If you're gay in my culture, you go to hell for eternity.

I'm not gay anymore thanks to prayer!

Here in the UK, we're lucky. We even have equal marriage rights now, but we fought for decades for them. I feel so sorry for gay folk that live in "unenlightened" countries. Wake up USA, protector of freedom!

I have never seen homosexuality promoted in any culture. And that is the truth. It's such a taboo topic to even discuss let alone promoted. I'm sure cultures are aware of it, but it's something that they don't want to openly deal with.
