lg xenon keybored isnt responding to the phone?

i have the lg xenon as of last july recently my keyboard is not responding to the phone itself the touch screen still works however when you press on or slide the keyboard nothing happens. any idea what has happened? or how i can fix it? i have not dropped it in water, or at all for that matter so i am very confused.
