LG vx8550: how to flash

Hello, I checked the sticky 'how to's' thread to flash my phone but for some reason,it's not on there. Anyone willing to guide me in the right direction?
I have QPST, just not sure what else I need flash from v to cricket. :)
 
won't work on the new 8550 firm version VX855P06

for this one you need to use latest cdma workshop for wap

go to EVDO tab and set MIP to SIP and change username/pass entries

if you know how to read/write nv items, then you can also change the mms settings

if you know how to use QPST Service Programming well, then you may be able to do the same thing with that app as well

if you have the LGNPST DLL and the Pro/Lab version of LGNPST, then you can also do this very similar to the 9900 guide
 
the newest firm does not allow older dll file to enable dm mode for programming

like i said, you can use qpst or cdma workshop to program wap

after that, you will have to learn more on your own by reading
 
I finally got my data cable in the mail and was going to attempt the flash but I keep getting an error, usb device not recognized. In device manager it shows up as unknown device. Any suggestions?
 
yes...google for the LG drivers and you'll be set...

then SEARCH and READ a lot more, because if you are having trouble at that point then you will need a bit more information before you flash it.
 
Thanks randomwit for the speedy response. I'm losing my hair as we speak over the stress of this...I have the v-cast cd which has the usb driver, the lg us modem driver, both of those installed already. Is there a driver I am missing? Oh and it can't be a bad cable if the phone is charging while being plugged into the computer, correct?
 
if there is a specific file that it is not finding, then search your pc for that file name

then direct the wizard to the file while the hardware is installing...

if the wizard neeRAB a specific file, and the file is not present anywhere on your pc or the disk, then post the file name here and it will be posted for you.

...again, if you just need the whole driver set, then you need to google for it or perish in a big pit of firey poop
 
I've got a vx8550 with new firmware........I've changed the wap settings via CDMA Workshop 3.3.5 and I'm still having issues with the wap working.....I even went in to qpst and set up everything there too with no luck.....any suggestions? Also, do you have any hints on what I'm looking for after I've read the nv items in cdma workshop? Thanks in advance.
 
I did one of these new firmware 8550 yesterday with lg download 9100 dll and first i put it in dm mode with the lg download trick then i closed it and opened bitpim and replaced the paramtable1 with the one i attached and it worked... just make sure you do it quickly otherwise bitpim will say access locked by provider or something like that... it worked for me so i put this to try to help some ppl but please use at your own risk
 
I dont get it, I have used Lg env 9900 dll and method for 8550 and most lg hanRABets and they have worked flawlessly, I guess what works for some, dont work for all..
 
the problem is most of us dont have the vx8550 dll for lab and cant always afford ridiculously over priced dll files but I think you can also use the 10000 lab dll aswell I believe dont quite remeraber
 
Hello All I just wanted to say I got my VX8550 WAP and MMS working. I didnt atemp Brew for the fact I dont if ill lose my music player. I followed Berry guide (VX9900) in order. I also used LG Download 1.3.6.3 Pro with 8550 DLL from Humpa website. My HW Version is Rev 1.0 and SW Version is VX850V01 if this helps. I tried a couple of times with various DLL and finally got it work with 8550 DLL. I also left MMS User Agent Profile blank because I didnt know what when there. Here a screenshot of my MMS tab in NV EDIT.
