I had some LG's I wanted to flash but I did not have the proper cable, so I asked a friend of mine for help with OTA.
I know that normally you are supposed to attach the ESN in Cricket's system, service program the MDN and MIN, and then try to program OTA, but it hasnt worked for me alot of the time. He gave me this advice, and it worked:
On LG's, navigate to wherever it says "Serving System". On a Verizon LG 8100 you go to Settings-System-Network, and write down the SID that is shown as the current serving system. This SID denotes the towers the phone is currently connecting to (Verizon, Sprint, etc)
Go into the service programming menu as usual, program the MDN and MIN. Here is where the difference stuff comes in:
When Basic NAm Programming is complete, select "More"
Most of the options you will leave As is, but:
Anytime the option is set to "Yes" change it to "No"
Also, Pay special attention to the "Lockout SID/NID" option:
Whatever serving system the phone is currently picking up/the current SID, you want to "Lockout" that SID, so whatever nuraber you saw earlier was your current serving system, enter that nuraber into the SID slot of the Lockout SID/NID menu.
To sum it up, most things stay the same: enter your MDN, MIN and the Cricket Home SID (here in portland its 4945), and the only things to do differently are changing every Yes to No, and entering the current SID into the Lockout SID field.
I have found that this will only work if the phone's ESN is active in your Cricket account, and when you dial to OTA, Dial *22804
The idea is to lock out the towers you dont want the phone to connect to.
Hope this helps someone- Sorry if its already posted somewhere else that i didnt know about.
