I have just bought the above and i an I am in deserate need of help. For starters I am not into technology and I am 46 years old, so it is all new to me.
I have a Goole mail account on my Pc that I think I have linked onto my phone but I cannot seem to operate it on my phone. Am I correct in thinking that my pc's Google Mail account is different to the application on my phone called Google Mail - white envelope with a red V on it? or is this the new Gmail? I do not seem to able to delete any of the messages? they are still on my phone.
Also what are all these 'labels' about?

Is Google Talk on my phone the same as Google Chat when I am logged into Google mail on my PC? What is concerning me is that I cannot delete any of the 'Talk' history without turning the phone off and rebooting it.

What I am after is to know that the applications are secure and all messages and chat is deleted from my phone. I don't want to have any items left on there, even though I have a password set on my phone

I assume that the mail you see on your phone is the same as the mail you see on your PC?

If that is the case, then the 2 mail accounts are the same and the PC and phone just provide different views of the same inbox.

They should be synced.

If they are not, and your description sounds like they are not, you may need to turn syncing on on your phone.

On an HTC Desire, that's:

Menu > Settings > Accounts & Sync > Auto Sync (tick on)

...but your phone may differ slightly (but it should be fairly similar).

Can you check that this is on and let me know and we'll take it from there.

Oh, and Labels are pretty much the same as folders you see in Outlook and web-based mail clients, but they are more flexible.

I have checked the syn and they are all set to auto. I have also been back to the shop and they have advised me to go onto My e-mail (push e-mail?) I have tried to get on to this but no luck I think I have to adjust my settings on google mail. great stuff this technology!
 
Ok, so I'm not sure what the shop meant by that exactly... have you got an internet connection? Can you take me step by step through what you do in the pc and expect to see on the phone?

It sounds like you delete all your mail on the pc but it's not deleted from the phone? How long do you wait? It takes a little while (I'd give it at least 10 mins while you have a decent internet connection). When you delete mail from your pc, the little synchronizing icon should appear shortly afterwards telling you that the phone has been told to sync by the server. When it finishes the phone should reflect the deletions.
