Looking for a comparison of pros and cons on these two phones if anyone can offer them. The microSD memory chip is a big plus for both of them, but I'm also interested in their capabilities as mp3 players and camera's. Texting isn't a concern (I don't text much) but durability is. I really can't be overly concerned with replacing this for a while. The chocolate looks interesting, but I've never had a slide phone before.

the v3 is definitely not suited for your needs - it doesn't have expandable memory and it has a poor VGA camera. are you don't mean the v6, v3i, v3xx, or v3x?

FWIW, the Mp3 player on the v3m isn't a true MP3 player. At least on USCC it's not. With the VZW User Interface, it may not even have that capability. I can't say for sure, as I used the v3m on USCC, and only had one on VZW for a day or two at best and didn't get to look around it very good.
But, the Mp3 player on the 8550 is just about as good as it can get for a phone. I would easily get an 8550 if I could afford the retail price. I would really get one of those, as the v3m's are starting to get rather dated, and the 8550 is just recently coming out.
