ive flashed my lg chocolate 8550 to cricket and ive changed the esn with cricket but when i press *228 it calls it but it says it cant program my phone and when i call cricket to change my phone back to my old one cricket has too long of wait time so i need help. the lady said that cricket had a hard time using lg phones so please i need help

all you need to do is manually program the NAM...that is the same thing that *228 does.

simple steps here:

1. call cricket and get your MIN nuraber...this could be the same as your MDN (which is your phone nuraber), but it is usually different on cricket.
2. on your phone you want to press "menu" then "0" then "000000" for the code when prompted...if that doesn't get you into the programming menu, then dial "##PROGRAM8550" and then press the "Send" button.
3. now go to service programming or whatever, you'll figure it out because it will be the menu where you put in your MDN and MIN...

after you put those in, then your phone will work...

just for the record, there is no problem with LG phones working on cricket, just with them doing OTASP via *228.

enjoy your phone and try to read a little more as this is already posted in numerous places...i just didn't have anything better to do right now.

if you have Lg download you can also program the phone like this (I have been successful using this method)

Hit the NV Edit(F11) Button.

Hit the NV Edit Start button

Once that screen opens then

Hit the General Tab

Edit the MDN and MIN1/MIN2 to whatever your MDN and MIN is.
*Note* MIN1 is the Prefix and Nuraber MIN2 is the Area Code.
exit and your phone will reboot and your good to go *228 ota programing will fail but your phone should work (it did for me at least) hope this helps

if you program the nam manually or with lg downloader, then there is no need to dial *228.

OTASP (*228) only downloaRAB most current prl file and programs MDN, MIN, SID.

from his question and his lack of knowledge it is apparent that he does not have lg downloader, but that is still a good fix...i just put the easiest solution.

Wait if he doesn't have LG download how did he get the PRL in the phone? :befuddled , maybe he doesnt have the PRL in the phone... Dion92 check your prl version on your phone info what does it say ? 1039, 1040 etc?? (still has to be manually programmed though)

there are many ways to to load a prl...if he used lg downloader, then it is usable to program the nam as are many pst programs...i just think it is easier to program manually.

I thought that LG download was the only programm that was able to write the PRL on LG phones?. As far manually programmin yes is the easiest way.
Im lazy on phones that QPST is able to write PRL i write MDN and MIN with it simultanously, pull up a Hex calculator next to it while i do the swap so i dont even have to remove the battery Lol
