lg 290cm cdma tracphone

I know normally trac phones are a no go, but i have a nice lg 290cm here. My computer sees that the lg serial port is active, but i cant get any pst to read it. qpst says "no phone". Anyone know how to put this guy in dm mode?
 
On the note of the lg 290cm, has anyone got any idea what size screen resolution the thing uses? I'm trying to make my own background pictures in Gimp and would like some sort of idea so as to keep file size to a minimum.
