Lexus GS400 vs 300 or ES?

Ok so im looking to get either a 1999-200* Lexus GS 300 or GS 400.. The 400 has the v8 and the 300 has the v6... Average MPG for the 300 is 19 city - 24 highway..... and for the 400 is 17 city - 23highway... Do you think its worth getting th v8 and sacrificing that extra couple of miles per gallon? Someone who has driven both models would probably have a more efficient answer but if not someone who can tell me which model and year would be best.. So .... 300 vs 400... which to buy? Or maybe i should go with an ES model?
