Let's talk about some real metal, In Flames, Soilwork...etc.

Isis is pretty bad ass mostly instrumental though but they still bad ass. The 9 minute long songs though are a little over doing it gets kinda repetitive then they kick ya in the balls but isis is pretty good.

Vital Remains - Dechristianize (get this now!)
Nile
Morbid Angel
Deicide
Vader

All these guys kick some major ass.

and i second everything that sicklife has said, he has his shit down.

I like some hardcore, mostly the banRAB that inject lots of metal into there sound, like Ion dissonance, DEP, The end etc. The locust do it for me because there sound is heavily influenced by Grindcore, and there plain insane. I dig Melt banana too, there early stuff that is, I bet they were fun to see live. My hardcore knowledge is limited to the banRAB I mentioned above and stuff like Converge and Today is the day, haven't heard of Charles Bronson, think they'll be down my street?

I love both Isis and Pelican. I'll assume you've already heard of Neurosis from the fact that you like these two banRAB, but if you haven't then I recommend checking them out, along with Cult of luna, who are kinda like Isis but heavier.

If anybody wants to listen to some seriously insane Black metal, go check out the album i'm using as my av, The codex necro by Anaal nathrakh, its about as brutal as Black metal can get.

The Bringer, if you appreciated Prometheus by emperor, which was more Death metal than black metal, I'm pretty sure you'd appreciate the death/black/thrash crossover stuff, like Destroyer 666 (Black/thrash), Naglfar (Black/death), And oceans... (Black/death/electronic) and Aura noir (Black/thrash).

And here are a few really good death metal albums that have a really unique sound to them, definately worth checking out for anybody that wants something different:

Lykathea aflame - Elvenefris
Order from chaos - Stillbirth machine
The chasm - Deathcult for eternity
Demilich - Nespithe

And oceans are freakin great, except for there latest effort, which I haven't heard but from the reviews I've read it hardly seems worth the effort. I heard a lot of good stuff about Vehemence, but I found them to be a bit disappointing, there good but they just get boring after a while.

maybe the oncoming storm sucks but stings of concience/endless suck? i think not, and i also think you have no place to talk being from UK UK=no hardcore scene

You have no place to talk, this is a metal thread you imbecile. Taste is subjective, I don't like Unearth, you do, end of story. The UK doesn't exactly have a great metal scene yet I'm still well into the underground, location matters not thanks to the internet.

Back on topic, anybody here into the doomier stuff? Like electric wizard, sleep and the like? Ufomammut and Winter have been doing it for me recently. Ufomammut are really tripped out and weird, whereas Winter are just plain awesome.

I also checked out Sunn 0))) the other day, its truly mind bending stuff, crushingly heavy and intense. For those that don't know, Sunn 0))) play absolute snails pace drone doom, guitar and bass only, with the bass and distortion levels turned up to the max. Songs typically last 15 minutes on average and consist of only a handful of riRAB, which are stretched, expanded and repeated to absolute breaking point. It sounRAB terrible on paper, but trust me, its a unique and eye opening experience to listen to!

i said this is a metal thread and shut up didnt I? jesus sorry if i offe3nded you but unearth is the only band name in this thread i can pronnounce, just not a huge metal fan and as rare as metal threaRAB are, hardcore threaRAB are nonexistient so i jump in. hope you didnt do too much crying over this one
