The Traction control has a simple gyroscope-type thing in that little box that knows if the bike is upright or leant over.
Kind of like the lean angle sensors that cut out the engine when the bike is laid down on the ground.
A buddy also had his R intervene alot and the reason was traced down to an improperly mounted DTC box in the tail.
If the box is not mounted straight, the gyroscope wont be sitting straight and wont be "zeroed" right.
They put it in the tail because that's the point that is most sensitive (furthest away from COG) to pitch and yaw, which will give more accurate feedback.
That is why you can still wheelie and burnout with it turned on. You dont need a fork travel sensor to have wheelie control although more data is always welcome, a gyroscope can do that already, but Ducati programmed it not to intervene in a "straight-ish" wheelie.
