Let us assume man made climate change is a myth...?

Let us conservatives, despite lack of proof are somehow right and that man made climate change is just not happening.

Two questions:

1) Do conservatives think that we should not care about polluting our environment, and that we can use resources at will without consequence?

2) Do you not think that a green manufacturing sector is not only necessary, but could be beneficial to the economy?
I did not mention taxes or legislation at all, please do not avoid the questions. Thanks.

You are wasting your time. If they wanted to have a civilized debate, we would have had one by now. But the debate is already over, concluded in their absence, and now they only have paranoid conspiracy theories and meaningless innuendo to offer.

It is simple. Green tech uses less energy. Less money spent on energy means more money for everything else. But some people are so stupid that they think that things like cap and trade will destroy American industry.
 
I do believe it is a hoax. I believe it is necessary to protect our environment as well. I do not believe this requires global governance as Al Gore suggested. When they let the free market inject some innovative new forms of energy that will actually do what we need it to do, then I see some good future for it. Right now, I don't think windmills and miles of solar panels are going to cut it. I don't see how electric cars are going to save energy when they just replace some of the fossil fuels used in the car with fossil fuels used to produce the energy to charge up the car. I don't see using food as fuel to be very intelligent at all considering what it has done to food prices globally. Before trying to force this on people, get some viable form of energy. Keep working on appliances that are more energy efficient. Don't charge me more taxes so I can't afford to buy them.

That's an ignorant question to ask. No.

Yes, to a certain extent. The government should not control (cap & trade) our environment. This only hurts the economy because it puts a tax (even though some don't want to call it that) on businesses. There is not enough proof that climate change (AKA Global Warming) is attributed to humans.

Pollution is bad , but since it's not melting the plant the urgency greatly diminishes.

Why not conscientiously continue to live and produce while developing cleaner energy sources.
 
1) No. We should care. Conservation, etc is not a bad thing. It's trying to find a balance between reasonable legislation that protects us and the environment, without harming us economically. It's no simple task. Extremists, particularly on the left, have not been willing to compromise at all. International climate treaties, etc, thus far would kill us economicall, as would cap and trade. But countries like China, Russia, and India would continue to do as they please, and the overall success of any climate bill would be neutralized. Completely worthless.

2) I'm all for green jobs. But I'm also for drilling for oil. I'm for anything and everything that will get us off of foreign oil and give us more alternative sources of energy, thus making the energy sector more competetive, and then dropping prices. Unfortunately, wind farms and alternative fuels have been a bust thus far. T Boone Pickens has completely dropped the wind portion of his energy plan. And alternative fuels are still expensive to produce at thos point.

3) I do not belive in manmade climate change. I believe in heliocentric climate change. It seems much more logical. Plus there is so much conflicting info out there on this issue however, that I will admit that it's arrogant and short-sighted for anyone to claim for a fact that one side is right or wrong. We as a species do not have the technology available to determine this beyond a reasonable doubt. And that is why I am against global legislation, or any legislation that would kill us economically. The whole idea of anthropogenic global warming may very well be complete bullshit.
 
Fine. But don't penalize me for it. And don't cause an upheaval to our businesses...like Cap & Trade would do.
 
Excellent point - the long term ecological effects of polluting the planet are far from absolutely known and any scientist who suggests even the most advanced modelling hypothesis is more than 90% accurate is being insincere.

Yet it's frustrating how certain interests take the volatility of these theories and use it to undermine all forms of environmental responsibility.

In fact - i often wonder why conservatives don't support conservation?
It seems like the common sense and moral direction which would appeal to their base if simply phrased differently..
 
Hypothetically and for the sake of argument; one should be a good seward of the environment and for their fellow man; or at least future generations; regardless of political affiliation.

There is no proof whatsoever about man made global warming. It is a myth. That is why these groups hide facts and lie about it. They were just busted doing this through e-mails. It is a bunch of crap. You can believe it if you want to. I will not allow you to force your garbage onto me and my wallet for something that is not proven scientifically.
 
As a conservative I agree with both of your points.

Yes, it's important to take care of our environment and resources and green manufacturing would be beneficial to both the environment and our economy.

In fact, I've been been going green for many years and have never exploited resources. However, I do not buy into Owl Goreism and everything that would represent.

I still see great need for using our own resources such as natural gas, clean coal and the development of nuclear power plants. We must quit relying on other countries to provide us with fuel when we have our own and in my opinion, what we're doing is outrageous!
 
1) No, corporations must control their pollution and make forecasts on their own or else they will fail - (ie they get sued or their products become inferior and they fold)

2) It could be beneficial, but propping it up against the market using government money is not beneficial
 
1: Even conservatives advocate recycling and taking care of the planet.
2: the US outsourced it's heavy industry to China years ago. Cap & Trade in the US does nothing to regulate China Green manufacturing in the US cost more and STILL doesn't offset the impact of 1920's style manufacturing in China.

Killing our own economy by taxing oursleves to death to save the planet only works if EVERYONE gets on board. As long as China continues to do it's own thing, the US could pump raw sewage into the everglades for a decade and still not come close to the impact China has on global pollution in a single year.
 
good point---even if global warmings is a myth the world is still being ruined by pollution. I grew up in California and our beaches used to be so nice to swim in. Pollution has made the water filthy and disgusting.
 
yes we need to preserve bio-diversity for its natural beauty as well.

reneweable energy will remove us away from the middle-east lol.
 
I can't answer for all conservatives, but I have absolutely no problem going after companies/corporations/individuals who pollute our environment.

I do however have a problem with Cap and Trade Legislation, which Will cause the last remaining manufacturing jobs we have left in this country to flee to countries like China and India, who have both stated they will Not enact similar legislation. Plain and simple, it currently isn't a level playing field and all that the Cap and Trade Legislation will do, is make that unfair playing field even harder for the U.S. to compete.
 
Pollution is a problem that needs to be mitigated. CO2 pollution is not a problem, and we are wasting all our time and money on it. we need to focus on more important problems.


green manufacturing, in the sense that it conserves resources, reduces actual pollution, and is cost effective, is a good idea. but forcing manufacturers to go green is only going to result in economic failure.
