Let me get this straight... Governor Bobby Jindal wants a small federal government

The government should help with the spill in the interest of minimizing damage to the country, but BP should be billed with all costs incurred by the government cleanup crews.

my point is this idea that if we let whatever industry regulate itself it will always make the best choices is bullshit. All those businesses and industries who bitch and moan about too much regulation and too much interference from govt in reality had pretty much little or no regulation when you look at them.

The banking industry took investors (private citizens) money and then bet against them to fail.

The housing industry thru predatory practices gave loans out to people who shouldn't have gotten them.

the auto industry is just fucked up and has been for the last couple of decades

the oil industry (most notably BP) does the minimum it takes for safety standards.

They all had free reign to do whatever they wanted. And look what happened. They are so intertwined with the private citizen that when they fail they take us down with them. And everyone is screaming about how "too big to fail" shouldn't happen..but in order for that to happen to have regulation and rules enforced but if you do that your impinging on private business to operate the way they see fit and on and on in a catch 22.

Why not let BP clean up the mess on their own. People saying they are not able to do it is just bs.

I said the govt enabled BP by not enforcing the regulation.. in essence they didn't do anything.

.

If they can afford to pay off politicians, they can clean up their mess.

If it breaks them, so be it.

They should PAY for the cleanup, but putting them in charge of the actual operations is just retarded. They don't have the control of the area, Federal govt land and multiple states, etc.. are affected.

I suppose if the government wants to stay out of it, they should stop saying they are busy taking care of it.

what cracks me up is people are angry that the fed govt hasn't taken over the situation from BP..

what exactly does anyone think the feds can do that the "experts" can't do? really?

BP, Transocean, halliburton all do this shit for a living. if they can't fix it then how is the fed govt supposed to?

remember how the govt is the most incompetent body there is..everything they deal with falls to shit..thats been the mantra for the last year with HC hell with anything really..NOW everyone wants big daddy to come to the rescue.

put them in charge... no one put them in charge. It was their rig. one private company leased it from another private company. They are the experts at this sort of thing. Remember the govt screws up everything so they can't be in control of an operation like this.

Hell according to your boy rand paul:
"I think when you get to the solutions like that, the more local the better, and the more common sense the decisions are, rather than having a federal government make those decisions."

let it bleed..
