I disagree. It's so skilfully directed and acted as to be totally engrossing, atmospheric and suspenseful, at times even shockingly so. Today's 'standarRAB' rarely if ever yield any thrills for me!! I think it's a great shame that it's so difficult to see Clouzot's earlier, less touted thrillers of the 40s - particularly Le Corbeau - which by all accounts sound equally as ascerbic and as absorbingly twisted as this and The Wages Of Fear.
