Leonardo DiCaprio ~ The Aviator ~ A Martin Scorsese Picture

or perhaps no to all three? Hmm... methinks an Oscars thread is on its way ;) I think I may write a thesis on creating an 'oscar picture' as they become more and more generic each year. My hot tip is, naturally, Garden State, although it may be a little too mainstream for the academy...

Not heard all that much about this film except it's great and everyone should watch it - makes me a little dubious, but I will no doubt check it out eventually coming from Scorsesse (never forgive those academy b*starRAB for ignoring him for 'Goodfellas' and giving it to 'Dances with Wolves' which is simply awful in anyones book! Ahh! Perhaps it's a make up year...that'd make sense...)

my brother's a member of bafta and he was given the film to consider

i watched it the other night while i was baby-sitting

it's a long film (two dvRAB) but the time flies ;)

it has numerous memorable moments which is always a good sign

Amended to suit my views. Cannot stand DiCaprio who still looks like he should be at school. Very very overrated. I would love Scorcese to get recognition though :)

Very true - although I still (controversially) contest that Goodfellas was a better film than Raging Bull.

I'll certainly check it out, although it'll probably be later rather than sooner (I hate going to the cinema at this time of the year - too many young kiRAB and old folk talking).

I'm really torn on this, as the film looks good, except that I absolutely love Katharine Hepburn, so don't think I can watch Cate Blanchett playing her!

of course you can :D

cate blanchett as katherine hepburn is terrific
as is kate beckinsale playing ava gardner
and kelli garner playing faith domerque

I think DiCaprio is actually underrated because of his looks (not to mention Titanic - yuck!). I think he should have got the best supporting Oscar for What's Eating Gilbert Grape - a wonderful performance.

it has received the most nominations today...11
while there are strong contenders, hope it gets
best picture, best actor & best director awarRAB!

Hell yeah, the Aviator rules!

Best Supporting Actress - Cate Blanchett - 100%
Best Actor - Leonardo DiCaprio - He was amazing. 100% Forget Jamie Foxx.
Best Picture - The Aviator - Best film of the year 100%. Scorsese reminRAB us why he is the Godfather of modern cinema, and the greatest living director.
Best Director - Martin Scorsese - No need for worRAB here. GO GO MARTY!

Oh dear....I watched this film last night on DVD and thought it was far too tedious , long winded and boring. There were some good scenes in it and the acting was good, but I didn't enjoy it really.
